Choosing a Major with MBTI®Complete

When track star Jesse ran the 100-yard sprint she barely broke a sweat, but when it came time for her to declare a major, she was sweating buckets.

She knew what to do on the track and in the science lab, but trying to decide on a major and a possible career path was really scary. She didn’t have a clue where to start.

Should she load up with biochem classes and go premed? Or would a biology degree be enough if she wanted to get into med school later?

Her friends were taking whatever classes they felt like taking: philosophy, graphic design, economics. Jesse felt as if she had only one chance to get it right and there was too much information to wade through.

Between her college counselor, her parents, her friends, and the endless course listings on the university’s Web site, she was overwhelmed with options. How was she supposed to make the right decision?

Luckily, Jesse found some much-needed assistance in a tool her counselor recommended—MBTI®Complete.

She took the assessment and worked through the learning session online and was amazed to learn things about herself that she hadn’t been aware of. Some of her friends used MBTI®Complete too, and they had fun comparing types and figuring out what was going on in their own and other people’s heads.

The best part for Jesse was that MBTI®Complete talked about using different parts of your personality to help in making a good decision. Jesse was eager to see how she could use this new tool in deciding on a major.

With the deadline for choosing her major looming, Jesse referred to her MBTI®Complete report and read through her results again. Based on her type, she could see that while she was great at gathering data and thinking about it logically, she tended to skip the step where she imagined all her possibilities and typically didn’t consider the impact of her decisions on herself and the people important to her.

Jesse took a deep breath and sat down with her pages of notes about her choices. She knew all about her school and what she wanted to make of her life, and, most important, she knew herself. MBTI®Complete helped Jesse find the right decision-making process, and she was confident she would make the right choice for her future.
